Namibia Music Awards 2008

The Namibia Music Awards -2008
Saturday 3rd May, Ongwediva Town

Sponsored by Cell One-my network, my choice

The Namibia Music Awards or NMA was established in order to create and provide a suitable musical entertainment and promotional platform for Namibian musicians, music producers, whilst offering the public at large great rhythmatic sounds under one roof. NMA’s main objective is to award the various musicians nominated by the public and the media under the different supplied categories fairly so that each unique artist’s talent is recognized and appreciated. The NMA ceremony also provides the opportunity for well known as well as up and coming musicians to perform during the ceremony in order to entertain the crowd.

The Namibia Music Awards ceremony is a unique event because of its ableness in providing transparent, truthful, objective and fair award to the Namibian musicians.  NMA recognizes all Namibian musicians from the ages of 16 years old and above to be nominated by the public and the media in order to stand a chance of being awarded one of the many awards in their respective categories. The NMA event is also a tool of promoting Namibian music to the African continent as well as to the rest of the world. It is a ceremony of joy and happiness because it allows all people young and old to be together at one stand and celebrate Namibian music.

The Namibia Music Awards ceremony has a great number of categories that were identified with the purpose to catering for most Namibian musicians who continue to explore the music industry in search of variety, uniqueness and sweet melodies with the opportunity of being appreciated and recognised. Many musicians have suffered and are suffering a great deal, because the music industry is a very tough and competitive platform. At times it requires one to have patience, to work whilst others are sleeping, have discipline and respect, bypass pride, it requires you to stand tall; be true to yourself and believe that in the end your dream will eventually prosper.

2008 has seen the organizers utilize different strategies for the Namibia Music Awards. For the first time in the history of Namibia, the Namibia Music Awards will provide the public with the opportunity to nominate the musicians under his or her category.
